News after cruel cruelty to animals: Labrador Haribo has a new home

On July 8th, walkers in the Unterbach district of Düsseldorf came across an image of horror: a young Labrador sat on the edge of the forest, his snout sealed tightly with a tank strap. The animal was unable to pant, threatened to collapse in the summer heat. The passers -by freed the dog and brought him to the Düsseldorf animal shelter. There he received the name Haribo – and for the first time the chance of rescue. We reported.

Traces of cruel abuse

The veterinary examinations confirmed the suspicion: the snout was sore, bloody, partially crusted. A tight headware had also put on the mouth area. The wounds required daily care, and there were inflamed ears. Despite the pain, Haribo was friendly towards his rescuers, almost grateful – a behavior that touched many people.

The incident triggered outrage nationwide. Animal rights activists demanded information to support online communities. PETA exposed a reward for references to the perpetrators. The Düsseldorf animal shelter called on the population to report with observations. Haribo thus became a symbol of the need for consistent animal welfare.

A new home in the Westerwald

After weeks of medical treatment and careful care, a new section began for Haribo. In a carefully accompanied placement phase, he met a few from the Westerwald. The trial period was successful, the young Labrador was now finally included in the family. During the official handover in the shelter, tears of relief flowed. For the Weber family, Haribo has long been more than a pet – he is a fixed part of her family.
