This event is unique in Schleswig-Holstein: On March 7th and 8th, everything revolves around animal favorites for a weekend at the Husum & Congress trade fair. At the 'Fellnasen & Friends' pet fair, over 60 exhibitors will be showing new types of food, sustainable care products, cozy retreats and chic accessories – and will also be providing new insights into the health and care of our pets. In addition to exhibitors who were well received by the public last year, the young trade fair format is recording a number of new additions and a good 20 percent more exhibitors overall in its second edition.

From smart litter boxes to helping wildlife
“We are pleased that we can offer our visitors an even greater variety this year,” says project manager Jolina Krampe. The exhibitors include well-known pet supplies brands as well as small businesses with original product ideas. The self-cleaning cat toilet and the animal photo station were among the eye-catchers at the trade fair last year. This year, along with many other suppliers, an aquarium professional and a dog house manufacturer are expanding the range for the first time. Among the exhibiting associations, the Auenland Wildlife Aid is new on board. The breeding station for young wild animals and wild birds in need of help is always looking for animal sponsors and volunteers. Other animal protection organizations, such as the Rabbit Aid Nordfriesland, will also be represented again. “If you own an animal, want one or are interested in protecting animals, this fair is the right place for you,” says Jolina Krampe. Since the focus of the trade fair is on the topic of well-being, animals are not exhibited.

On the show area, from 11 a.m. on both days of the fair, visitors can look forward to agility, a dynamic dog sport in which dogs and humans master an obstacle course together. At 12.15 and 1.15 p.m. further program items from the General Dog Club of North Frisia close (AHC NF) and the dog sports club GHV Flensburg. Afterwards, rescue dogs show what they have learned in their training at the DRK. The FühlTier association, which, among other things, offers “children’s dog licenses” in schools and daycare centers, is represented with a stand and is showing a demonstration with the children’s dog school on the Sunday at the trade fair. Also on Sunday, a crash course “First Aid for Dogs” will be offered under the expert guidance of Heidi Carstensen from the DRK district association of North Frisia. Tickets are available in the ticket shop; the number of participants is limited to twelve people. There will be a lecture program with animal experts on both days of the fair. The lectures on topics such as “Wildlife Help”, “Leash Walking in Dogs” and “Pain Detection in Cats” are scheduled for Saturday in the program. Two of the lectures on Sunday are about cats' sensitive kidneys and understanding dogs' needs.

Since dogs can be brought to the trade fair, the organizer also thought about the well-being of the guest dogs. For the four-legged friends, there are not only drinking stations and an extensive training and thinking path for exercise, but also a relaxation area with cuddly cushions. In order to provide in-depth knowledge transfer during the trade fair, a specialist partnership was also established with the International Professional Association of Dog Trainers and Entrepreneurs (IBH) closed. The trade association, which also includes the “Speak Dog®” project, supports the “Fellnasen & Friends” with professional and practical know-how.
