Rescued from an unsanitary and overcrowded house, this courageous dog is training to become an assistance dog

Spritea 2-year-old female Schipperke, was rescued from a case of excessive animal hoarding at the beginning of 2026. 5 months later, she saw a new beginning and underwent training to become an assistance dog for deaf people, according to Rogue Valley Times.

The dog had been rescued with dozens of dogs in an overcrowded and unsanitary house in Eagle Pointin Oregon (United States). The evacuation of the site required several days of work on the part of the authorities and local associations.

30 dogs died and 58 survivors

58 survivors were discovered on site, as well as 30 dog corpses hidden in particular in a freezer.

The owner, Jana Tepperfaces numerous charges. She has pleaded not guilty as her trial continues. She is expected to appear in court in July.

To begin with, Sprite and his 57 peers had been entrusted to the Jackson County shelter. They were subsequently transferred to Midwest Schipperke Rescue. In the meantime, pregnant dogs have given birth, bringing the number of canines in care to 64.
