This senior dog and an orphaned kitten get to know each other in 8 minutes, then become inseparable (video)

Brucea senior Golden Retriever, had had a difficult start in life. He had, in fact, seen the light of day in a “puppy mill”, the type of breeding where the search for profit generated by the sale of canines clearly takes precedence over their well-being.

Saved from this hell, he joined a loving family in Fort Waynein the state of Indiana (United States), where he has lived happily for years. We can see this by discovering the numerous videos shared on the account TikTok “ @seniorboybruce » which his humans devote to him and which brings together 29,000 followers.

At 10 years old, this dog is enjoying his old days in peace, or almost, because he lives surrounded by 4 cats including his best friend. The latter has not always been the type to hold in place. Responding on behalf of Trouthe had not had an easy youth either until his arrival in this warm home.

The tabby cat was just a tiny orphaned kitten when it arrived in the family's family. Bruce. He was particularly restless then, which did not fail to leave the dog perplexed. However, the kitty has calmed down considerably as he has grown, and the 2 quadrupeds have become inseparable, like brothers.

Fallen under the spell of each other in just a few minutes

This is shown in a video posted online on August 27, 2026 on TikTokwhere it generated half a million views, and relayed by Pet Parade. Here it is:

I decided to look back at the timestamps on the videos of Trout & Bruce's first meeting & I was actually shocked to see the first one taken at 7:36PM & the last one at 7:44PM ? Trout was 1 of 4 foster kittens we had rescued at the time (Trout, Pike, Minnow, Salmon), but we knew early on that we were keeping Trout (little did we know we'd end up adopting one of his brother's, Pike, as well!). All 4 kittens were in the room, but Trout was the only one who took an interest in Bruce. Pike and Salmon refused to go near Bruce & hid under the bed, Minnow popped up briefly to hiss at Bruce & then joined his brothers, but Trout? One brief hiss, then 2 minutes later, his curiousity got the best of him. After 8 minutes, he had fallen in love? #goldenretriever #seniordog #catsanddogs #catsoftiktok #dogsoftiktok

The sequence begins with a scene of great tenderness; Trout kneading the paw of Bruce while both of them were lying side by side on the sofa. We then see them at the time of the presentations, when the kitten had just been adopted. It only took them 8 minutes to get to know each other and become the united and complicit duo they are today.

Woopets advice: is it easier to integrate a puppy or kitten into a home where animals already live?

The arrival of a young animal can sometimes facilitate adaptation, particularly because a puppy or kitten is still in the socialization phase and can gradually learn the codes of its peers. Its behavior may also be perceived as less threatening by the animal already present.

However, this does not mean that an adult or senior animal will integrate less well. Their temperament, background, experiences with other animals and the way presentations are organized also play a vital role.

Whatever the age of the new arrival, it is therefore preferable to respect the needs and specificities of each person, and to monitor the first interactions so that cohabitation can be built peacefully.
