Her childhood dog, 16, walks her down the aisle on her wedding day (video)

Friendwho lives in England, grew up with an adorable dog, a now senior Labrador Retriever named Billy. It accompanied a large part of his childhood and youth; as such, he is her best friend, even like a brother to her.

The young woman could not imagine the most beautiful day of her life, that of her wedding, without Billy at his side. Her dream was even that she would walk to the altar in his company, and it was granted despite the quadruped's gait made difficult by old age.

At 16 years old, Billy in fact, no longer has the legs of his youth, but he wanted to fulfill this honorable mission for his human.

So the big day has arrived. Leashed by Friend and dressed in his pretty costume for the occasion, the dog took the few steps leading the bride towards her husband and the priest, then he attended the rest of the ceremony while lying quietly and comfortably in his basket.

All Amie wanted was for Billy to give her away… and he did. ?? Billy is 16 years old. He's Amie's childhood dog. She's had him by her side since she was just 13 years old — through growing up, through every chapter of her life… and now, her wedding day. ? There was only one thing Amie desperately wanted. For Billy to be the one to give her away. ? At 16, he's a little slower these days. His legs aren't quite as steady as they once were, and we knew we'd have to take everything completely at Billy's pace. And then the moment came… Slowly, carefully, one little step at a time, Billy walked her down that aisle. He made it. ?? And I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. And once his very important job was done, we had a comfy bed waiting for him at the front of the ceremony. I sat beside him while he settled down and he watched the girl he'd loved since she was 13 years old get married. ?? Of all the wedding chaperones I've been lucky enough to be part of, this is one of those moments I know I'll never forget. Because sometimes having your dog at your wedding isn't just about the photographs. Sometimes it means everything. ?? Billy, you absolute little legend. You did it. ? #weddingdogchaperone #elderlydog #olddog #weddingchaperone #wedding

Some bonds remain stronger than the years that pass. The presence of Billy during this special day is a beautiful illustration of this, offering the bride and groom and their loved ones a memory that will remain engraved in the memories for a long time.
