On Instagram, Sata hiking enthusiast known under the pseudonym @sam_theadventurer, regularly shares his adventures. But last September 7, it was a completely different experience that he chose to tell his subscribers, explaining his calm of the previous days.
As he returned from a hike, Sat stopped at a fast food restaurant to have a meal and shelter during a downpour. Parked in the restaurant parking lot, he was eating quietly in his car, when he noticed an unexpected presence outside. A dog with a tawny coat was wandering right there in the rain. “ I saw him outside, going from car to car looking for food, and no one opened the door for him. », explained Sat has The Dodo. “ It broke my heart to see him alone and hungry in the rain. »
Touched by the doggie's situation, he decided to offer him some food, opening his door to offer him some. If the dog immediately rushed towards him, he had a different goal in mind.
“He walked straight past the food…”
Ignoring the food, he jumped into the cabin to get out of the rain. “He walked past the food without stopping and jumped straight into my car,” told Sat. “ I didn't plan on him getting in my pickup… (but) at that point, I wasn't going to put him out in the rain. » Sitting in the passenger seat, the dog that Sat baptized Gus caught his breath. Soaked to the bone, he then began to devour the meal offered by Sat. He was starving.
He wanted to save him at all costs
Without even knowing how long he had been there, and ignoring everything about him, Sat then made a promise to Gusthat of keeping him close until he is safe. “ As soon as he jumped in my car, I knew I wanted to keep him at least long enough to make sure he was safe. » Despite everything, worried about the financial aspects linked to taking charge of Gus, Sam took him home, then drove him to the vet the next day. Gus was in good health, to the great relief of Sat.
“ After several baths, I managed to get all the dirt and fleas off him, and the next day I took him to the vet. Fortunately, his tests came back negative for heartworms and parasites, and he was otherwise a perfectly healthy pooch. He just needed basic veterinary care, shots, medicine, food and a little love and attention. »
“So I would like to officially introduce… Gus.”
“My original idea was to help him get back on his feet while I figured out what to do next… But over time, this incredibly sweet dog, who started out as just a stray dog I found in the rain, became an integral part of my daily life. He conquered my sofa, my photo gallery and my heart. » explained Sat on his post Instagrambefore adding that Gus was still getting used to the inner life, but that he was safe, as he had promised her.
“ What definitely convinced me about our long future together was his affectionate nature, calm body language and just plain adorable nature. », declared Sat who decided to officially adopt the dog. And to the hiker's delight, it turns out that the doggie loves the same activities as him. The great outdoors is their shared passion, so much so that they now set off together to enjoy new adventures. “ Above all, he loves being outside and exploring.
