Fabienne, the owner of Smile, this timid dog, has difficulty believing that she is finally back by her side. Since February, the resident of Ain had been deeply worried, to the point of believing in the definitive disappearance of Smile. His relief was immense, and made possible thanks to the Capture Yala association as well as an engaged citizen community.
It was during a walk that smileadopted at the age of 5 from a shelter, fled. Fabiennethe original owner of Saint-Julien-sur-Reyssouze (Ain), expressed his guilt to our colleagues at France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpesconfiding: “We were not careful enough when it came to attaching the collar and harness”.
The dog, although very timid, escaped the control of her mistress by starting to run. Fabienne returned to his astonishment: “She started running and we were like, 'Can this dog run?' ».
The shock of disappearance
Having tried everything to find his dog, Fabienne saw the months go by without receiving any news from smile. She confided with great sadness: “We preferred to think she was dead than not knowing where she was”. In fact, the owner feared that smile couldn't fend for herself in a world that scared her so much. “We didn’t imagine for a single second that this female dog was going to leave”underlines Fabiennedevastated.

“And yet, she was still very much alive and very active”
Fabienne and her partner first contacted the gendarmerie in their area, then declared the escape of smile near PetAlert. Subsequently, the associative fabric took over, and in particular Capture Yalawhich deployed a recent technological tool: a trap cage with “trapping system that operates by infrared camera with remote controls”.
After a field study, and 3 months after his disappearance, smile was spotted by a resident of Gevry (Jura), and the cage trap made it possible to catch it in good conditions. For its owners, the ” miracle “ that they were no longer waiting for has finally arrived.
