Woopets' advice: how to repatriate a stray dog that you met on an island?
A stay on an island can sometimes lead to a nice encounter with an abandoned or stray dog. If you wish to offer him a new life in mainland France, contact a local association which can verify his state of health, his identification and the conditions necessary for his trip. Depending on the situation, he must be vaccinated, identified by electronic chip and have the health documents required to fly to his new life.
There are specialized animal protection organizations that organize the rescue, care and transport of these animals since Reunionthere Guadeloupe or other island territories.
If you are not willing to adopt him, but want to save him, these associations can also look for a foster family or adopters. You can then, if you wish, contribute to the costs or participate in its transfer.
