Taken in as a puppy with her brother and sister by STAB Rescue, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Serafina was waiting for a family when the association noticed that she had a funny gait and needed hip surgery. The call for donations launched to finance the intervention had an outcome that no one within the team had anticipated, reported The Dodo.
The journey of Serafina had started in a rural shelter, where she had arrived at a very young age in the company of her two brothers and sister. The weeks had accumulated without any homes showing up, to the point that the 3 puppies found themselves on the euthanasia list. STAB Rescue then took the trio in to give them a second chance.
The sister of Serafina was recently adopted, while her brother's adoption is in progress. The association hoped to reserve the same fate for the young dog, but it was at that moment that its team noticed that she was not moving quite normally.
Hip surgery required
The young dog was therefore taken to the veterinarian. The examination revealed serious hip problems, which only an operation could correct. The cost of the intervention being very high, STAB Rescue published a call for help on its social networks, attaching the quote from the clinic, in the hope of receiving at least a little help.
With a large and very supportive community, the team hoped to raise a decent amount, confided Alexis Ketoverdeputy director of STAB Rescue.

A generous and admirable gesture
In Virginiaa woman discovered the publication shortly after it was posted online. Engaged and in the middle of wedding preparations, she had already found a dress that she really liked, priced at 2,000 dollars (approximately 1,800 euros). However, she called her future husband to tell him that she was giving up the outfit, so that this money could be used for the surgery. Serafina.

“ She didn't even contact us directly “, tell Alexis Ketover. Based on the quote posted online, the bride-to-be contacted the clinic, spoke with the staff and took responsibility for the expense. It was the veterinarian who then warned the assistant director, who started crying when she heard the news.
Faith in humanity restored
Alexis Ketover said he read, under the publications, comments explaining that this gesture restored faith in humanity. “ People are as amazed as we are “, she summarizes.
The operation is now scheduled in a few weeks. Until then, Serafina rests with her host family, where she is pampered. Once she has recovered from the operation, she may in turn be put up for adoption and go in search of a permanent home.
