If you want to be safe by car with your dog, you can't avoid a dog box. With some manual skill you can one Build dog box for the car yourself. However, some mental arithmetic is required to determine the required material. Calculate what you need, compare prices of the materials and that of the “finished boxing”.

For a better understanding, I have the building instructions for the Auto dog box somewhat illustrated. But I should be looked at that I am neither a technical draftsman, nor is I particularly practiced in dealing with Microsoft Paint.
The explanation is exemplary based on the Transport box In the photo (see cover picture). It is also not binding, but should only explain steps. Please read them carefully because not every step is repeated. I do not claim that mine Dogbox blueprintand its implementation are technically mature.
Materials for the dog box

We need aluminum quarrel profiles, round bars and a flat piece. In addition, we need corner connectors that are made of plastic in different shapes and sizes. It is important that they fit into our square.
The whole thing is available as a shelf building system, for example in the Bauhaus. Make sure that the corner connectors have the right angles.
Tip: A non -required finish can simply be sawn off!
In addition, we need two hinges and a bar. The side walls can be made of wood – here I would prefer 4mm film plates – or be made of plastic and can usually already be purchased tailored
Tip: If you finish the frame first, you can determine the more precise measure of your panels.
The right tool for building a car dog box
A limbs (folding stock), a hand drill, force, possibly a stand drill, drill, a rivet + rivet, a rubber hammer, a mettal saw, a file, hammer, grain or a nail, felt pen and possibly a (hand) circular saw if the wood is to be sawn.
Basic to determine the length of our square profiles

Suppose we want a box in the length of 100cm, and our profiles would have a thickness of 2x2cm.
As a rule, the corner connectors have exactly the strength in the middle. So to get a length of 100cm, we have to deduct the strength of the two corner connectors.
Example: Strength of the corner connectors in the middle 2x2cm, the whole twice. This results in a length of our profile of 96cm +2 +2 = 100cm.
Basically to determine the length of our round rods

Since the round bars are inserted into the square profiles, they must be a little longer. To do this, we need the measure of the four -cant wall. As well as the strength of our profile. Example: 2x2cm wall thickness 2mm. Here we pull off 2m from our 2cm. 20mm-2mm = 18mm.
Our rods are introduced twice, at the end, which increases our round rod by 18mm twice. Example: required length 60cm + 1.8cm + 1.8cm = 63.6cm.
For our own safety we simply take 63.5 cm.
Tip: If you do not have a drill of 12, 14 or even 16 cm that fits in your machine and appear 10mm round profiles too thin, you can also take full material.
Dogbox construction: the work steps
The door

First of all, we straighten the square profiles and round bars straight to our desired length. The freely known ones are deburred with a file.
Make sure that your door becomes smaller than the frame so that it fits into it.
If necessary, first start with the frame and build the door at the end.
Next we take the two four edge in which our round bars are inserted and put them on top of each other. Make sure they lie exactly one above the other. Now we take our structure and draw the distances of the round bars. We then take our hammer and grains and grain the places where we drill.
Drill the holes and deburr.
Now we take one of the drilled pieces and insert the corner connectors in the correct departure angle. At most, help with the rubber hammer.
Tip: With some detergent it slips better.
Next we take the two side struts and insert them into the corner connectors so that the shape of a “U” is created.
Before we close the rectangle, we have to insert the round bars into the holes.
Next we take the other profile with the holes for the round bars and bring the corner connectors in the right angle.
Now we put this together and make sure that the round bars fit into the upper holes.
Our rectangle is now finished, but not yet firm.
Now take our hand drill and drill the holes for the rivets. At the top and bottom into the square through the round bars, however, not quite through. Use rivets and rivet with pliers. In addition, we are also riveting the square with the connectors.
Tip: You can also glue the corner connectors. Instead of detergent, apply a suitable glue before assembly.
Next we take our flat piece and rivet it on one side. Our hinges come to the other side.
Pages, back wall and front, the actual frame

We start with the back wall. As with the door, we first saw our four pieces, as well as a round rod. Unlike for the door, this is used horizontally, otherwise the assembly is identical.
With my model I chose a distance of 10cm.
When we finish our back wall, only the square must be fitted.
To do this, we saw the square to the outside width of our rear wall. Then we saw the square on both sides so that only a tab, in the strength of our square. We put on the now sawn -out profile. I chose a distance of 10 cm to the round rod here. Then drill and rivet.
Next we make a frame to the dimensions of the back wall. Always make sure that the corner connectors go off at the right angle.
Now we'll saw the profiles for the pages. Remember that you connect the back wall and the front.
Before connecting, we have to drill the holes for the round bars.
These cannot be brought to exactly the same height. We either have to drill our holes a little deeper or higher.
Before putting together, make sure that the round rods are inserted.
Drill and rivet. Next we add our four -cant to the back wall again.
Now our frame (without door) should be ready.
Measure the wooden requirement for the dog box

It is required: lid and floor, two sides and a back wall.
The sides and the one back wall are measured from the floor to the inserted square.
The next step is self -explanatory. Put on the wooden board, fix with clamp, drill through the wood into the profile (not quite through) and rivet.
As the last step, we use the door. We now decide in the latest which side the attack belongs, the holes of the hinges mark, drill the holes and riveted our hinge.
Now the bar, turn out and wipe. A carpet or a blanket in and the car box is ready.
