The animal welfare organization Tasso EV, which operates Europe's largest free pet register, therefore warns of the dangers and appeals to all dog owners: Inside: Never leave your animal in the car in summer.
Dogs only have very few sweat glands, they regulate their body temperature via the breath and panting. To compensate for the resulting water loss, you have to consume enough liquid. Without water and sufficient air circulation, there is a threat of a heat stroke in which the body temperature of the four -legged friend increases to more than 41 degrees. Vital organs are then no longer adequately cared for and the animal dies painfully. “It is simply incomprehensible that so many people still do not take responsibility for their four-legged friend and risk their health and life. To let a dog suffer in the hot car, is a clear violation of the Animal Welfare Act and the animal welfare dog regulation,” says Tasso director Philip McCreight.
Dog in the car discovered? Don't ignore!
If you discover a dog in the car on a warm day, you should become aware and help. It does not matter whether the vehicle is parked in the shade and the windows are slightly open – the inside of the car can heat up to more than 50 degrees Celsius within a very short time. If the car has been in the parking lot for several minutes and the animal shows significant signs of stress, animal lovers should try people in the first step to find the dog owner or the holder. If this attempt remains unsuccessful, the police or fire brigade should be informed immediately. It is also advisable to write down all relevant information such as date, time, time, place, car brand and license plate and document the situation with photos or videos. In addition, there is the possibility of filing criminal charges for cruelty to animals.
First aid for the dog
