More quality of life on four paws
Boppard. Osteoarthritis is a nightmare for many dog owners. If your loyal companion suddenly limps or the joy of playing diminishes, good advice is often expensive. Our editorial dog 'Fenja' did the test: We examined DocFauna's “Joint Tablets DOG” for six months.
The initial situation:
When every step is difficult
At twelve years old, 'Fenja' is still an active, curious dog – the good soul in the office. But a good three years ago we noticed the first signs: a stiff gait after getting up, hesitation before going up the stairs and finally the diagnosis from the vet: osteoarthritis in the toe joint. You could tell that her quality of life was suffering, especially in cold, wet weather.
In search of a supportive addition to moderate exercise training, we tried various joint tablets. Sometimes with no or only minimal visible success. Six months ago, we integrated the “DocFauna joint tablets DOG” into our everyday editorial work – and appointed ‘Fenja’ as a four-legged test member. Now it's time for an honest conclusion.
Product overview
DocFauna's joint tablets are aimed at dogs with osteoarthritis, joint wear or age-related mobility restrictions. The tablets are manufactured in Germany and laboratory tested for high purity and tolerability. According to the manufacturer they should:
- support joint metabolism,
- reduce inflammatory processes,
- promote mobility,
- and contribute to long-term regeneration.
A look at the list of ingredients:
Nature meets science
Before the first tablet landed in Fenja's bowl, we checked the ingredients. DocFauna relies on a combination of well-known active ingredients that are intended to synergistically support joint metabolism. We noticed the transparent declaration positively.
The main ingredients are:
- Green-lipped mussel powder + chondroitin sulfate: Both are considered natural building blocks for cartilage and synovial fluid and can help maintain elasticity.
- Glucosamine + MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane): These substances are known to promote the development of cartilage tissue and may have anti-inflammatory properties.
- Devil's claw + ginger: Traditional medicinal plants commonly used to relieve pain and inflammation in the musculoskeletal system.
- Omega-3 fatty acids (from fish oil): Essential fatty acids that have been proven to support anti-inflammatory processes in the body.
- Cell protection complex: A special feature is the mix of different plant extracts and micronutrients (such as vitamin E and C), which is supposed to help protect cells from oxidative stress.
The recipe does not contain any unnecessary fillers, which was an important quality feature for us.
The practical test: Six months with 'Fenja'
A supplement is only as good as its acceptance and effect in everyday life.
- The intake: Fortunately, 'Fenja' is not a foodie diva. Although she took the tablets straight from her hand like treats, it was more practical to add them to her wet food. Acceptance was problem-free throughout the six-month period, making daily routine easy.
- The first phase – weeks 1 to 4: You shouldn't expect miracles overnight with natural supplements. In the first few weeks her gait remained largely stable, but it seemed that 'Fenja' got going a little quicker in the morning.
- The long-term effect – months 3 to 6: This is where the real difference became apparent. 'Fenja' has been running significantly smoother since taking it regularly. The limping in the toe area has almost completely disappeared and she is increasingly showing the typical “flitting” that we missed so much about her. Overall, she seems more vital and more active.
Value for money
A pack of 200 tablets is available online from various suppliers, although the price varies depending on the retailer. We found offers that are often in the range of around 18 to 20 euros per pack. Depending on the dog's weight and the resulting daily dosage (e.g. 1 tablet per 10 kg body weight) One pack is enough for several months.
For a medium-sized dog like 'Fenja', the daily costs are in the low cent range. Given the high-quality ingredients and the visible improvement in your quality of life, we find the price-performance ratio to be very fair and attractive. It's an investment in well-being that was definitely worth it for 'Fenja'.
Which dogs is the product suitable for?
The DocFauna joint tablets DOG are particularly useful for:
- Dogs diagnosed with osteoarthritis,
- older dogs with declining mobility,
- sporty, active dogs with high joint stress,
- Dogs after injuries or operations
- as well as for preventive support of the joints.
Our verdict
The DocFauna joint tablets DOG convinced us across the board. It is not a “miracle cure”, but rather a sound, well-composed supplement that supports the body where it needs help. And of course 'Fenja' receives a prescribed painkiller when pain flares up. Fortunately, these occur less frequently and, after consulting the vet, we were able to reduce from one tablet to half.
The result at a glance:
- Thoughtful recipe: Combination of proven joint nutrients, plant extracts and cell protection.
- High acceptance: 'Fenja' easily takes it like a treat.
- Visible effect: Improvement in mobility and enjoyment of life in a long-term test.
- Good tolerance: No gastrointestinal problems for the entire six months.
- Fair price-performance ratio: Effective support at manageable costs.
The tablets are a clear recommendation from our editorial team for dogs with chronic joint problems such as osteoarthritis or to support them in old age. 'Fenja' will definitely continue to have her so that she can happily roam through nature for a long time to come.
What remains important is: Supplementary feed does not replace a veterinary diagnosis. However, they can be a valuable component in the management of joint diseases. The DocFauna joint tablets DOG are available at www.plantavis.de/gelenk-tabletten-dog.
