Tailor-made dog winter coat for Dachshunds with practical details
Freising. As soon as the cold season begins, our dogs' desire for daily walks diminishes. Acute displeasure is spreading among our furry friends. According to researchers, all dog breeds feel comfortable up to 7 degrees Celsius. But small dogs can freeze at temperatures as low as 5 degrees – below 0 degrees it becomes uncomfortable for everyone. Dachshunds in particular do not like frosty temperatures and wet conditions due to their body type. Whether they are short-haired, long-haired or wire-haired dachshunds – their short legs and long body make them feel the cold particularly strongly in winter. The new, tailor-made OSKAR winter coat from the Theo & Emma label not only protects every dog from hypothermia, but also offers an advantage in terms of safety. By simply attaching the Orbiloc® light to the coat collar and additional reflector elements, the dog is clearly visible in traffic.
Dachshund – small but mighty
Dachshunds – also known as Teckel or Dachshund – are very intelligent and cheerful dogs with special character traits and a good deal of self-confidence. With their cheeky, cocky facial expressions, they captivate young and old alike. Anyone who meets their needs will have a loyal, courageous partner at their side.
Dachshunds can freeze – like other dog breeds with little undercoat. The length of the hair doesn't matter. Because Dachshunds have a rather small body volume in relation to body surface area, they are more susceptible to cold than other dog breeds. Long stays in freezing temperatures and snow can lead to hypothermia more quickly than we think.
A dog winter coat helps a dachshund get through the cold, gray season safely. Unfortunately, many available models do not fit. Just like with us humans, a dog's coat must fit perfectly, which means it must adequately cover the chest, neck, back and rear without restricting freedom of movement.
High-quality dog winter coat OSKAR
The OSKAR dog winter coat has a high-quality, three-layer material construction. The outer material consists of a waterproof, breathable membrane fabric. The second layer is a synthetic fiber insulation that consists of 94 percent recycled PET bottles and ideally protects the dog from cold winter temperatures. On the inside there is an anti-static lining that does not crackle when you put it on and take it off, but ensures cozy warmth and maximum comfort.
Tailored cut for optimal warmth
Whether rabbit, dwarf or normal dachshund – at Theo & Emma, each dog winter coat is individually put together according to coat length and chest circumference using the Mix & Match system. This ensures that all important areas of the body are covered at all times, that the coat does not slip and that the dog does not get cold when playing in the snow, for example. The many dachshund mixes have also been taken into account – the winter coat is available with a back length of up to 61 centimeters.
Practical details with a twist
The OSKAR dog winter coat has a sufficiently long collar with an internal drawstring and a collar opening protected by a tab, through which the D-ring of the collar can be easily pulled for leashing. There is a zipper on the back of the coat. It allows you to wear a harness under your coat. After pulling the leash through, the zipper can be locked so that the dog is optimally “wrapped up” and protected from wind, moisture and cold.
Winter coat with built-in safety features
Sewn-in reflective strips on the winter coat are perfect, but in the dark season, lighting on the dog is a must. Where can I attach it without the light-up collars slipping into the coat collar when worn? Below the collar opening on the OSKAR winter coat there is a tab specially developed with Orbiloc® to which the safety light can be easily attached in one move. It offers visibility up to a maximum of five kilometers and is 100 percent waterproof and shockproof.
The olive-colored dog winter coat OSKAR is available with an orange, replaceable chest strap in both dachshund and standard sizes from specialist retailers and at www.theoundemma.com.
