Kranenburg (ots). On the morning of 10 September, the fire brigade in Kranenburg was called out to an extraordinary emergency (North Rhine-Westphalia), when a dog got onto the roof of a residential building through an open skylight.
With the help of a ladder, the animal was safely rescued from the roof. Since it could not be ruled out that a person was also in distress, the fire brigade entered the apartment in question in consultation with the police and the public order office. However, no one was found. However, the emergency services discovered an open water tap, which meant that parts of the apartment were already under water. Thanks to the fire brigade's quick intervention, greater property damage was prevented.
The dog was initially taken to the animal shelter because an owner could not be found. Finally, the fire department appeals to all pet owners to ensure that windows and doors are secured in order to avoid similar incidents.
