Feuerwear lives sustainability
Cologne. For over 15 years, company founders and owners Martin and Robert Klüsener and their team have placed great importance on the reuse of used raw materials. The basis of every Feuerwear product – whether hip bag, wallet, backpack or dog accessories – has always been used fire hose. But sustainability and upcycling are also top priorities in the manufacturing processes and the other materials used.
Even before founding the company, Martin Klüsener knew: “I will make fashion from recycled materials.” The first prototypes were followed by countless others that Martin Klüsener and his team have developed themselves. “Our goal is to produce as many components of our products as possible from sustainably manufactured – ideally recycled – raw materials,” reports Robert Klüsener, Martin's brother and also managing director at Feuerwear. A challenge that is not all that easy to overcome, as is evident in daily work.

Because of course the used raw materials have to meet Feuerwear's high quality requirements and be produced as sustainably as possible. This starts with the upcycling of the valuable raw material fire hose. To this end, every production step is as ecological, social and sustainable as possible. Of course, green electricity and eco-detergent are used to wash the fire hoses during production and the CO2Emissions are offset through climate projects. TÜV Rheinland confirms in its life cycle assessment that upcycling fire hoses makes a major contribution to reducing the burden on the environment, as valuable energy and resources are saved that would otherwise be required to produce new materials.
Durable products with lasting value
The aim of Feuerwear is to produce as many components of the products as possible from reused materials and thus create long-lasting products with lasting value that will accompany you for a very long time. This longevity is sustainable because it reduces the need for constant new purchases and thus conserves resources.
