Splendid Film is pleased to announce the nationwide cinema release of “Gohan – Three Lives on Four Paws” (141 minutes, FSK 12) to be announced on December 31st. The production of the Thai studio GDH (including “How to make millions before grandma dies”) is the number one box office hit of the year in Thailand with box office sales of over a million dollars. The story of the dog is now coming to German cinemas on New Year's Eve.
“Gohan – Three Lives on Four Paws” tells the life of a street dog with distinctive white fur and a pink nose in three interlocking episodes. In his search for a home, he meets people who find closeness, support and belonging in him in different ways: he becomes the loyal companion of an engineer on the verge of retirement, the trusting protégé of a woman who frees him from the animal shelter, and the reason for a young artist couple with a shared past to get closer again. With fine humor, great warmth and moving images, “Gohan – Three Lives on Four Paws” tells a universal story about loss, new beginnings and the special connection between humans and animals.
“Gohan – Three Lives on Four Paws” is the first film from BASK FILMS, the production company founded in 2024 by Bad Genius director Baz Poonpiriya and Thailand's leading film studio GDH, led by producer Vanridee Pongsittisak. The project arose from the producers' shared love of dogs and their commitment to animal welfare.
The film tells the life of a street dog in three episodes. The episodes are each by different directors (Chayanop Boonprakob, Baz Poonpiriya, Atta Hemwadee) staged and “Gohan” is embodied by different dogs of appropriate ages.
