Cologne. Martin visits the Siegen animal shelter and meets the manager, Tobias Neumann, and his team. He is accompanied by Detlef “Deffi” Steves, a passionate animal rights activist. They look after the ten-year-old golden retriever mix Falco, who cannot be rehomed due to biting incidents. Martin and Tobias test at the dog meadow which new four-legged roommate is suitable for Falco. And Detlef has to deal with two stubborn donkeys.
In episode 1, Martin visits the Siegen animal shelter and meets well-known companions: animal shelter manager Tobias Neumann and his representative Sabine Schneider. This time Martin is accompanied by Detlef “Deffi” Steves, for whom animal protection has long been a matter close to his heart. He and his wife recently adopted an old dog from abroad.
Tobias has been working for the Siegen animal shelter for over 20 years. Today he and Martin look after the ten-year-old golden retriever mix Falco, who cannot be rehomed due to various biting incidents. The difficult male dog should find a new four-legged roommate at the animal shelter so that he is not alone. Martin and Tobias test out which one suits him at the dog meadow.
Meanwhile, Detlef's fragile nerves are being put to the test. Today, alongside volunteer Andrea Hellmann, he is responsible for two donkeys. Andrea is an animal protection teacher and also manages the animal shelter's 24-hour emergency number. The two of them are supposed to go on a mission to a retirement home with the donkeys. The donkeys just have to get into the trailer first. A part of the mission that is not that easy, as Deffi painfully learns.
