News at its own party alone: animal shelter dog hopes in vain for visitors to the nine-year-old male Flash has been living in the Dogs Trust Darlington in England for three years. In order to finally find a loving home for him, the team organized a very special campaign: a getting to know each other that was only devoted to him. The disappointment was great – because nobody came.

Flash is one of the so -called long -term residents of the shelter. Over the years, the open -minded mixed breed had only a serious prospect. The hope was therefore great that there would be potential adoptants at the open house: inside. But Flash waited in vain. Animal shelter Nikki Holroyd described the situation as “heartbreaking” compared to the BBC. Flash visibly enjoyed the day and was happy about the team's attention – there was still a bitter aftertaste for the employees.

Why does Flash stay overlooked?

It is incomprehensible for the animal shelter team: Flash is friendly, dear people, is uncomplicated to deal with and like to go for a walk. He also shows himself playful and balanced. He prefers to lie on his ceiling or play with his favorite toy. Nevertheless, Flash places certain demands on his future home: it should be quiet, without children or other pets – possibly a reason why nobody has shown serious interest so far.

Looking for a loving place

Despite his special needs, Flash brings a lot with it: on his placement side, he is described as a “happy and lovable companion”, who is happy about a secure garden in which he can play or relax to your heart's content. Pet units are particularly important to him – his joy over human proximity is unmistakable. The team in the shelter does not give up hope that a suitable person can still be found for him.

Animal thrillers are also overcrowded in Germany

The location in German animal shelters is similarly tense. Older dogs or those with special requirements in particular often wait for months or years. The German Animal Welfare Association repeatedly points out how important it is to give these animals a fair opportunity. Perhaps a dog like Flash is waiting for a loving home in an animal shelter in this country.
