1. Pünktchen and Tonga
As so often, the Ocicat is a purely random find. Virginia Daily actually wanted to breed a Siam cat with Abyssinier badge. But in the litter there was a gold -dabbed kitten that completely danced out of line. It got the name Tonga, was neutered and sold – it was not usable for breeding. On the other hand, Tonga's parents got a second chance. The geneticist Dr. Clyde Keele paired her again and the next generation of spotted cats was born.
2. Full talent
The friendly velvet paw is an intelligent and capable of learning. Intelligence games should not be missing in their everyday life. Linen guidance, seat and retrieval are tricks that we otherwise know from dog education. Many occurrences can keep up. In their view, one or the other prank should not be missing.
3. High out
Athletic, muscular and yet with a narrow waist – this is how the velvet paw is presented. Your physique and the powerful legs give the Ocicat an enormous jumping power. At the same time, their distinctive ears, the fur pattern and their pronounced cheeks stand out. The unmistakably dark tail tip is a special feature of the breed.
4. From the ocelot to the house tiger
What do a wildcat and an Ocicat have in common? Your look! And that was crucial for the naming of the breed. The fur pattern is strongly reminiscent of an ocelot, in English “ocelot”. In the essence, however, the two have no common ground. There is no trace of the wild cat genes.
5. Like a fish in the water
Ocicats are anything but water. As a real water rat, they cannot miss an opportunity to play in the water and bathe. You also have a bathtub for this. As active cats, they love to play with their peers and their loved ones. A cat fishing is the perfect toy for the water lover.
