Andrew Kernof Kensington in Maryland (United States), was preparing to go on vacation abroad with his family. He first had to find a reliable care solution for his young dog Zoey6 month old Rhodesian-Ridgeback. An acquaintance recommended the dog boarding facility to him. On Monday June 15, 2026, a few days before his departure, he took Zoey at the pension for a trial day. He dropped her off there at 9:30. However, when he came back to pick her up at 2:30 p.m., a very unpleasant surprise awaited him. “ We don't know where your dog is ”, she was told, before telling her that she had escaped. He was shocked, both by the information itself and the manner in which it was given to him. Andrew Kern found it equally disturbing that he was prevented from entering the daycare.
“ It wasn't until much later, at night, that I spoke to an employee and learned that there had been this dog fight. When I arrived I was told my dog was alone and had climbed the fence for no apparent reason and then ran off into the woods », he tells FOX 5DCwho reports this story.
Andrew Kern immediately set out to look for his dog. He received help from the organization Tailed Treasures, which included creating a poster that was posted online and distributed throughout the industry.

Zoey was finally found the next morning, Tuesday June 16, in front of the fire station Cabin John Park Fire Station 30less than 2 kilometers from the pension Potomac Furbabies.
Relieved, Andrew Kern was able to bring her home. Her 4-legged friend is being treated for scratches and a sore paw.
Contacted by FOX 5DCthe owner of the dog daycare, Tracy Taborgaaffirmed that his team had done everything to try to find Zoeyadding that this type of incident was rare in his establishment, that the dog was safe and sound and that everything was back to normal.
Andrew Kern is clearly not of this opinion. “ This is not good and I fear it will happen again “, he actually concluded.
