The hind paws are larger than the front paws
60 % of the body weight lie on the front runs. Due to the unequal weight distribution, the front paws have grown larger than the back paws.
The paws of a dog are cleaner than a shoe
The paws of our beloved four -legged friends are often considered unclean. A widely missing assumption, as a study recently demonstrated. Veterinary doctors of the University of Utrecht examined dog paws on possible intestinal bacteria and diarrhea. With astonishing result: the paws of the 50 tested dogs proved to be more hygienic than the shoe soles of their owners. In contrast to shoes, the paws of many dogs are washed after every walk. Another reason can be found in the regularity with which the fur noses clean: up to nine to ten times an hour- including the paws, of course.
Dogs run on the toes
Dogs are so -called toened people compared to humans. So you can move faster and quieter.
The shape of paws can vary
The three main types are the cat form, which enables energy -efficient running, the rabbit shape with extended middle toes for quick turns and jumps as well as the hybrid form with potential for high speed at long distances. The cat paws with their short toes can be found at Gordon Setter and Brittany Spaniel. The typical rabbit paw occurs in greyhounds and whippets, the hybrid paw for the beagle or Foxhound. Races such as Labrador, Dachshund and Newfound countries are characterized by their pronounced swimming skins.
