On your paws, get set, go! Start of the 4th season on RTL,
on Friday, September 6, 8:15 p.m.
Cologne. From September 6th, the action will be unleashed! The popular Physical Dog Show is starting its fourth season and promises animal fun again in prime time on Friday evenings. In five new episodes, exciting obstacles and a completely new course await the four-legged friends and their owners. All new episodes are moderated and commented on by Jan Köppen, Frank “Buschi” Buschmann and Laura Wontorra as field reporter. The episodes are available on RTL+ one week before they are broadcast on TV.
A wide variety of dog breeds compete against each other, whether small and agile or large and clever. What counts in the end is a trusting relationship between humans and animals, because the dogs are guided, supported and cheered on by their owners in the course. Exciting new features await the participants in the new season: Among other things, there are seven new spectacular obstacles that will be used and a brand new final duel for the day's victory. Another new feature is that the top dog candidates have to use tactics: do they take the riskier route or play it safe? A wrong decision costs valuable time.
The experts
Agility trainer Jan Dießner is once again there as a referee. The obstacles in the course were agreed in advance with the 36-year-old dog expert for the welfare of the animals. During the show, Jan Dießner organizes the dogs' runs for the viewers, gives tips on dog training and is available to answer questions from the presenting team.
There will also be a reunion with the well-known veterinarian and blogger Dr. Tanja Pollmüller, known as Doc Polly, who, as in previous seasons, is responsible for basic veterinary care on site together with her team. Only those who pass their “dog MOT” are allowed to take part.
The rules
In four preliminary rounds, the contestants will compete for a place in the grand finale – and for 5,000 euros, which each day's winner can take home, and 1,000 euros of which will be donated to an animal welfare organization of their choice. Each preliminary round is divided into two stages. The seven fastest duos from stage one qualify for the next course. (Stage 2). The three fastest duos from stage two qualify for the final. The two fastest duos also compete against each other in the new duel box at the end of the show and fight for the day's victory.
In the grand finale, everything is at stake! The three fastest duos compete against each other in a trial course and fight for the title of “Top Dog Germany”. The winner receives prize money of 25,000 euros, of which 5,000 euros will go to an animal welfare organization of their choice.
The two best-placed small dogs in all preliminary rounds also advance to the final and have the chance to win the “Last Shorty Standing” award and 5,000 euros, of which the owners also donate 1,000 euros to a good cause.
