452 two- and 246 four-legged friends pull through Hamburg for animal welfare
Shortly before the World Animal Protection Day, Hamburg set a strong sign of animal welfare with the second Paw Parade: On September 28, 452 people and 246 dogs went silently, but unmistakably through the Hamburg star hill to draw attention to the many dogs and cats that are waiting for a permanent home in German animal shelters. Singer Ingo Pohlmann was there. The organizers Pedigree® and Whiskas® had announced in advance to support the German Animal Welfare Association as a umbrella organization of animal shelters with 50 euros per participant in the PAW Parade. A total of 22,600 euros came together, which the organizers rounded up to 25,000 euros. An extensive supporting program, including with stands by the partners of the German Animal Welfare Association and Zooroyal, gave valuable information about the adoption of dogs and cats in advance.
Hamburg. Colorful signs, radiant faces, waving tails: At the second Paw Parade in Hamburg, the focus was again on animal wonders. A few days before the World Animal Protection Day, almost 700 two and four-legged friends made their way through the ski jump- with a clear message: every dog and every cat earn a loving home.
“It is nice to see how many people are committed to animal keepers and have already found their” Perfect Match “in the shelter. The PAW Parade is intended to encourage even more people to give a second chance of a animal keeper. Because we know: An adoption not only changes the life of the adopted four -legged friend to the positive – it also enriches that of man who takes up the animal and wins a loyal companion for his life, ”says Andre Bügen, Communication Manager at Mars Pet Nutrition, the company behind the brands Pedigree® and Whiskas®.
A day in the sign of animal keepers and adoptions
Even before the Paw Parade starting at 3 p.m., the Karo Beach was firmly in the hands of hundreds of animal lovers-and their four-legged companions: vegan hot dogs, dog ice cream, a photo shop and creative crafting campaigns for demo signs created an exuberant atmosphere. Pedigree® and Whiskas®'s fortune wheel attracted animal profits for young and old.
At the stand of the Hamburg Animal Welfare Association and the German Animal Welfare Association, interested parties received extensive information on adoption from animal shelters. In addition, pet owners were able to register their animals free of charge in the Findefix pet register. The profiles of dogs and cats from the animal shelters Hamburg and Bremen also attracted great attention. They showed impressively how many animals in northern Germany are currently waiting for a loving home. “Many people still hesitate when it comes to adoption from the shelter – countless wonderful dogs and cats are waiting for a second chance. The Paw Parade has given them a strong voice today,” said Lea Schmitz, spokeswoman for the German Animal Welfare Association.
Ingo Pohlmann's live performance created a good atmosphere
Musician Ingo Pohlmann played his biggest hit “If summer now” in the Karo Beach and then also took part in the demonstration. Together with 451 other animal lovers, he impressively showed the flag for adoptions of animal shelter dogs and cats this afternoon.
