While they reinforce the animal shelter's weak points, a call from the public order office provides hope: the missing dog 'Thyson' has been spotted with his former owner.
Sleepless nights in the Witten animal shelter
A nightmare becomes reality for the employees when they start work one morning. One dog has disappeared and another is seriously injured. It quickly became clear that burglars had free rein at night. A hole in the fence, broken doors and the chaos left behind are evidence of the crime. Since then, fear and uncertainty have dominated everyday life in the animal shelter: concern about the stolen Staffordshire 'Thyson' – and the fear that such an attack could happen again at any time.
Ralf Seeger and his team, the Hard Dogs, are called in to secure the area and give the employees a bit of security back. The men get straight to work: They reinforce the external fences, help install surveillance cameras and check every weak point. Because Ralf knows: Break-ins in animal shelters are not an isolated case. Often it is former owners whose confiscated dogs are housed here – people who, if necessary, commit crimes to get their animal back. During the reconstruction of the crime, the suspicion grows that the 'Thyson' case was also a targeted burglary of orders. Apparently the perpetrators initially confused the similar dog 'Marwis' with 'Thyson'. When 'Marwis' fought back, he was brutally strangled and beaten – a traumatic experience that left deep scars. Ralf and his team pay special attention to the eight-year-old male and try to give him back his trust in people step by step.
At the same time, the men help out in the busy everyday life of the animal shelter: 50 dogs are currently housed here, many of them listed dogs. Among them are four Staffordshire sisters who were confiscated from a criminal fighting dog ring. Since then, animal shelter manager Kirsten Simon has lived in constant fear that someone might break in again to steal one of the dogs. There is also a lot to do with the cats. The animal shelter has long wanted a new quarantine station. And while Ralf and his team are busy setting up the boxes, a call from the public order office causes a lot of excitement: two months after the theft, 'Thyson' was spotted in Witten. Hope immediately arises that the missing dog can finally be returned to the animal shelter.
