Fashionable, functional and safe –
Tailored winter coat with practical details
Freising. Dogs with winter coats are laughed at by many people. Dog winter coats serve a similar purpose to their human equivalent: to keep warm. The coat structure of many dog breeds does not provide enough protection in certain weather conditions. The OSKAR dog winter coat from Theo & Emma has a high-quality material construction that protects the dog from hypothermia and moisture down to minus ten degrees. Using the Mix & Match system, each coat is put together individually according to coat length and chest circumference. The coat not only has practical details such as reflective stripes, but you can also attach the Orbiloc® safety light to the collar with just a flick of the wrist. The OSKAR dog winter coat is available in OLIVE with an optional colored chest band.
The days are getting shorter and the temperatures are falling – winter is coming fast. Dog breeds with a lot of fur are naturally optimally protected against the cold, but breeds with short fur and a lack of undercoat have a less easy time of it. Small dogs in particular, such as dachshunds, are closer to the ground and feel the cold early. Even older “fur noses” often don’t like the icy temperatures.
Not all dog winter coats are the same – anyone who deals with the topic will quickly realize that the visual aspect plays a smaller role than expected. A high-quality material mix, precise fit and practical details are much more important selection criteria. Inspired by his Weimaraner dog Emma, Stephan Krohm, founder of the Theo & Emma label, has developed a tailor-made dog winter coat that is fashionable, functional and safe at the same time.
Dog winter coat with high-quality material construction
The OSKAR dog winter coat has a high-quality three-layer material construction. The outer material consists of a waterproof, breathable membrane fabric. The second layer is a synthetic fiber insulation that consists of 94 percent recycled PET bottles and ideally protects the dog from cold winter temperatures.
On the inside there is an anti-static lining that does not crackle when you put it on and take it off, but ensures cozy warmth and maximum comfort. When developing the winter coat, Stephan Krohm considered good heat retention, fit and comfort important. Feedback from many customers was primarily incorporated into the further development of the new fit.
Tailored cut for optimal warmth
In general, a winter coat should fit the dog's anatomy so that it warms the dog's chest and shoulders as well as his buttocks and thighs without restricting his freedom of movement. Gone are the days of standard sizes – at Theo & Emma, each dog winter coat is individually put together according to coat length and chest circumference using the Mix & Match system. This ensures that all important areas of the body are covered at all times, that the coat does not slip and that the dog does not get cold when playing in the snow, for example.
Practical details with a twist
The OSKAR dog winter coat has a long collar with an internal drawstring and a collar opening protected by a tab, through which the D-ring of the collar can be easily pulled for leashing. There is a zipper on the back of the coat. It allows you to wear a harness under your coat. After pulling the leash through, the zipper can be locked so that the dog is optimally “wrapped up” and protected from wind, moisture and cold.
Winter coat with built-in safety featuresIn winter, many dog walks take place in the dark and in cloudy weather. It is important to be seen by other road users early on. Lighting on the dog is a must despite the winter coat – but where can it be attached so that light-up collars slip into the coat collar when worn? Below the collar opening on the OSKAR winter coat there is a tab specially developed with Orbiloc® to which the safety light can be easily attached in one move. The Orbiloc® safety light offers visibility up to a maximum of five kilometers and is 100 percent waterproof and shockproof. In addition, sewn-in reflective strips on the winter coat ensure that the dog is clearly seen.
