Woopets info – What questions should you ask yourself before adopting a dog?
Adopting an animal is a great adventure, but it is also a commitment over several years. Before falling for a little ball of fur, it's better to take the time to think. Ask yourself for example:
- Do I have enough time to devote to it every day? A dog needs presence, attention, education and activities;
- Is my lifestyle compatible with their needs? Accommodation, schedules, travel… each dog has different needs;
- Am I ready to commit for the long term? An adoption can represent 10 to 15 years of living together, sometimes more;
- Did I anticipate the costs related to his well-being? Food, veterinary care, equipment and any unforeseen circumstances are part of an owner's responsibility;
- Is now the right time to welcome an animal? A successful adoption takes preparation, it should not be a decision made on a whim.
