When we talk about dogs recognized for their home protection qualities, we immediately think of the German Shepherd, the Belgian Shepherd Malinois or the Rottweiler, but much less of the Labrador Retriever. Although the latter can be a good alert dog, it is best known for its friendly character, including towards strangers. Roscoe is indeed one, but he recently acted in a surprising way by protecting his family while a burglar tried to break in at their home. A heroic intervention which earned him honor by his city, reported WRDW.
Roscoe lives in Thomsonin the State of Georgia (United States), with its owners and their 2 children. On Tuesday, May 5, around 4 a.m., his master Travis Davidson and the latter's wife had been awakened by his barking while he spent the night in their room. He was looking at the door to the room.
The father opened the door and found himself faced with an intruder. Travis Davidson had immediately thought of his children, panicked at the idea that the individual had attacked them. Fortunately, this was not the case.

The burglar fled down the stairs, but Roscoe had started chasing him while continuing to bark. The assailant stumbled while opening the door to go out, then got up and escaped towards the neighboring house. The dog was still after him.

He ran after him to the neighbors' garden, where the suspect was arrested shortly after by the police. He will be tried for first-degree burglary and possession of methamphetamine.
Travis Davidson had lost Roscoe in sight at that time and started looking for him. The quadruped, however, returned home safely a few minutes later.
“He watches over us. I feel safe with him”
According to his owner, the 6-year-old black Labrador is naturally very sociable and calm. His attitude that morning did not fail to surprise him. “ He watches over us. I feel safe with him. He takes care of my children, who adore him. And he's a great pet. He really is part of the family “, declared Travis Davidson.

A week after this courageous act, a ceremony was held in honor of Roscoe during the city council meeting Thomson.
The dog was offered an honorary certificate, but also and above all bags filled with toys and treats.
