In Dordogne (24), the story of Louki, an 11-year-old crossbreed shepherd, had a profound impact on people's minds. Found in 2025 in a state of extreme abuse, the dog survived extremely violent abuse. Justice has just condemned his former master and his partner, in an unprecedented decision in the department. Today, Louki is trying to rebuild his life at the shelter, with the hope of finally finding a loving family.

It’s a story that is both moving and difficult to tell. That of LoukiA Shepherd 11-year-old crusader, whose ordeal marked the spirits in Dordogne (24). Very recently, the Périgord justice system convicted his former master for animal abuse, as well as his partner for complicity. A first in this department!

Extreme abuse

It all started in 2025 in a garage TerrassonOr Louki was discovered by the authorities in extremely violent conditions: locked in a sports bag, his muzzle and paws restrained by adhesives. According to the elements of the investigation carried out by the Périgueux SPAhis ordeal had lasted for several months, punctuated by repeated attempts to kill him.

For one of the investigators who spoke to the newspaper Southwestthe observation is chilling. The poor doggie would have been the victim of several methods intended to make him disappear: drowning, ingestion of rat poison, attempted hanging, or even suffocation with his bare hand, then with a plastic bag. A relentlessness of rare violence which makes his survival all the more extraordinary.

A dog always full of life and hope

Today, despite this particularly painful past, Louki is a dog that keeps looking ahead. Installed at the refuge of the Périgueux SPA since March 24, 2025, this crusader Shepherd surprises with his energy and his joy of living. Very close to humans, he is affectionate, cuddly and attentive with his caregivers and with volunteers, without showing any resentment towards what he has experienced.

Louki However, he remains a dynamic dog, who loves walks and ball games: there is no question of him spending his days in the basket! He will therefore need an active and present family, capable of meeting his need for movement and attention.

From now on, Louki asks only one thing: to finally find a family who loves him to share walks and cuddles.
