Woopets advice: should you intervene yourself to rescue a trapped animal?

When faced with a dog stuck in a sewer, ditch or other difficult-to-access space, it is best not to try to retrieve him alone.

A panicked animal can, in fact, have unpredictable reactions, while the intervention can expose the rescuer to a fall, collapse or other dangers.

The right reflex is to secure the premises, call emergency services or the competent services and stay away from the animal until they arrive.
