This dog abandoned because it was too big is one of the shelter's favorites, but it struggles to interest adopters (video)

Moved by the story of a 5-year-old Dutch Shepherd cross called Kenji, Jan Vegaa volunteer at the shelter Carson Animal Shelter has Gardena in Los Angeles County (California), decided to dedicate a video to him on his account TikTok “ @hicarsondogss » to help him get a fresh start.

According to the young woman, this dog has everything to please and to fill her future family with happiness. Educated, having acquired cleanliness and impeccable behavior, he adores children and gets along very well with his peers.

Unfortunately, this was not enough for him to avoid abandonment. His previous owner, who had bought him through an online classified ad, actually separated from him and brought him to the shelter because he had outgrown their accommodation, which does not have a garden.

With his pleasant and friendly temperament, his drooping ears and his very gentle gaze, Kenji quickly became one of the favorites of the staff members of the Carson Animal Shelter.

However, it still struggles to interest visitors and adopters. The volunteers know that the perfect family is out there, somewhere, and will eventually come and get them.

“All dogs deserve to have someone, but not all humans deserve to have a dog”

Many Internet users upset by this story reacted in comments under the video shared by Jan. “ It's horrible. The poor boy didn't do anything wrong. He deserves a good way. He looks like the perfect dog to me. », wrote Eric. “ Ils hadn't learned about the breed before adopting it? They hadn't thought about the fact that he was going to grow up? All Dogs Deserve To Have Someone, But Not All Humans Deserve To Have A Dog », reacted Faith. “ What love. It's really not fair. Why, in 2026, do some people still not understand that adopting an animal is a lifelong commitment? The feeling of betrayal is immense when you abandon him like that », commented Rocky_TheSpitz.

In an update, Jan Vega announced that Kenji had just been transferred to another shelter, the Baldwin Park Animal Shelterin the hope that this change will help him realize his dream of adoption.

Here is the video, posted online on September 17, 2026 on TikTok and relayed by PetHelpful :
