Woopets Info: Are Golden Retrievers Really “Bad Guardians”?

If Golden Retrievers are protective of their humans, in the sense that they instinctively watch over them and constantly seek to be at their side, it is true that they are less inclined to provide guarding and defense than representatives of other breeds such as the German Shepherd, the Malinois, the Rottweiler, the Pyrenees Mountain Dog or even smaller canines that readily act as alert dogs.

Nash is not an exception. Generally, Golden Retrievers are extremely friendly and jovial, favoring gentleness and playfulness over confrontation.

However, it is worth remembering that race is not everything. A dog's behavior is also shaped by its experiences, its education, its surroundings and many other factors.
