In front of the Animal Aid of Tulsa second-hand store in Oklahoma (United States), 5 puppies were abandoned outside of opening hours, before escaping from their crate and ending up in the parking lot. The association, which already lacks space for its residents, is asking for help, reported KTUL on October 7, 2026.
A crate placed in front of the door, then puppies running free
On Saturday October 3 in the evening, while the store run by the association in Tulsa was closed, 5 puppies were left in front of the establishment, locked in a crate
The young canines managed to escape and began to wander around the parking lot. According to the association, they are approximately 17 weeks old.
A shelter already overcapacity
The arrival of these abandoned puppies comes when the structure is already running out of space. Staff members say the shelter is over capacity, while applications from foster families and adopters remain rare.
The association is therefore launching a call for help: those who can offer time, financial support or materials are invited to contact Animal Aid of Tulsa.
A car filmed by video surveillance
CCTV footage captured the car being used to abandon the puppies. Anyone with information on this vehicle or the animals is asked to contact the association.
In Oklahoma, abandoning an animal can be punished with a maximum fine of $500 (440 euros) and one year in prison. If the facts also constitute an act of cruelty towards animals, the penalties can reach a fine of 5,000 dollars (4,440 euros) and five years of imprisonment.
In the meantime, the association is counting on donations and new host families to take care of the 5 survivors.
