6 puppies huddled in a box, without their mother: a volunteer discovers them while feeding stray dogs

Today at the shelter, 6 puppies discovered and rescued in the middle of the forest are enjoying hearty meals, care and all the attention of volunteers, while waiting to find a family ready to offer them a new start. But for the association which supports this rescue, the most important thing remains to prevent other litters from experiencing the same fate: sterilization is essential to sustainably fight against abandonment and the proliferation of stray dogs.

While handing out food to stray dogs in a wooded area of Romania, Camelia Dobosa volunteer at a local shelter, discovered an abandoned cardboard box in the middle of the brush. 6 puppies were huddled there, tight against each other, without their mother. Their story is told by The Dodo.

A scenario that repeats itself too often

Placed on the ground and stones, the cardboard was surrounded by twigs and some trash, including a plastic bottle. The little ones, with white, brown or black coats, only had this open box for shelter.

Camelia Dobos first looked for the mother of the cubs. Failing to find it, she considered it likely that someone had gotten rid of the scope, a scenario which, according to her, is repeated too often in this region. The volunteer then carefully took the puppies and took the road to the shelter with them.

From cardboard to full bowls

Since their arrival, hearty meals and hugs from the team have punctuated the survivors' days. A photo captured them with their noses down, crowded around several bowls of food placed on sunny slabs. “ Their only interest lies in food and sleep, but they will soon want to explore », summarizes a spokesperson forAnnie's Trusta British association working hand in hand with the refuge of Camellia.

Cared for every day, the 6 puppies now hope to find a home, whether a foster family or adopters, in order to grow up in good conditions. Another photo immortalized 2 of them, one white and beige, the other white and black, their heads stuck through the opening of a shelter.

Sterilization is “ the only thing that can break the vicious cycle »

For Annie's Trustthis rescue led by its Romanian partner is above all an opportunity to insist on sterilization, the only way in its eyes to curb both abandonment and the excessive number of homeless animals.

“ It's the only thing that can break the vicious cycle », Estimates the representative of the organization, for whom simple rescue operations cannot resolve the issue: it is at the root that the problem must be addressed.
