Discovered by customs on the way to Switzerland
Döggingen/Singen (ots). On February 17, customs duties of the main customs office were found on the unheated loading area of a small van approved in the canton of Thurgau. The 63-year-old Portuguese driver asked the control officers to deliver the animal from Portugal to Switzerland. From the submitted EU petrol card showed that the dog is just ten weeks old and that not all necessary vaccinations, especially against rabies, were registered.
“When the loading area was opened, the Yorkshire Terrier Welpe was found in a small laundry basket between boxes and packages at the end of the loading area,” says Sonja Müller, press spokeswoman for the main customs office. “The ceilings on which the animal lay were dirty with feces and urine. It is believed that the animal has been transported in Portugal on the non -heated loading area since the start of the trip. According to the veterinary office of the Black Forest Baar district, the puppy was hypotherized and was not sufficiently supplied with water and feed, ”continued Müller.
The animal was secured and given to the care of the responsible veterinary office. In the meantime, the necessary documents for an departure to Switzerland were presented. The puppy, recovered from the strict trip, was able to be picked up by its new owners. The responsible veterinary authority is currently examining the initiation of a fine procedure against the driver of the van.
