Potsdam (ots). On April 2, the customs dog 'Bobby' sniffed a total of 7,600 smuggled cigarettes that were hidden in a car with Polish approval. 'Bobby' is a small, very talented detection dog that specializes in tobacco products. When asked, the driver stated that they come from Poland and to be active in agriculture in Germany. Customs succeeded in a large -scale check at the Rossower Heide rest area. On the A 24, the car was brought to control with the support of the police.

'Bobby' showed great interest in the vehicle and was therefore in the right place. Several packages with Polish cigarettes were distributed on a suitcase and a box on the back seat of the vehicle.

Previously, the 40-year-old driver stated that he had a total of 800 cigarettes with him that were intended for his colleagues.

Against the driver, the customs officers initiated tax criminal proceedings for suspected tax evasion and levied tobacco taxes in the amount of 1,414.36 euros and a security deposit of 200 euros. “When looking at the overall situation, my colleagues had to go out of spending with a commercial character,” said the head of the control unit, Torsten Biehl.
