Dog education is mostly human training – dog messages

Whoever loves his dog learns to understand him

Hanover. More and more dog owners obviously find it difficult to teach their darling a few basic rules. In the Hanover animal shelter, for example, dogs land more and more because their owners cannot cope with them. The Agila pet insurance found this when she started a cooperation with the Lower Saxony animal shelter last year. The following applies to dog training: If you take a few basic rules, you can contribute a lot to the relaxed everyday life with your four -legged friend.

Dog education is a little like learning a foreign language. Only those who understand the body language and communication of their four -legged friend can interact well with them. This is the first basic rule in the upbringing of the four -legged friends. A good example of this is constant barking. Stephanie Becker, professional dog trainer in Offenburg, explains why it brings little to simply ban barking: “Behind every behavior is an unfulfilled need. If, among other things, the dog is constantly barking when he is alone, he probably never really learned to be separated from his people. If he barks on other dogs, fear, frustration or aggression behavior. Depending on what the trigger is, the training is different. ”

The second basic rule in dog education also has to do with the understanding of the dog owners for the four -legged friend, and goes one step further: For successful dog education, it is not only necessary that I understand my animal, but also accept it with all its peculiarities – including the breed -related -. Dog trainer Becker: “Let's stay at the example. If I bring a dwarf spy, i.e. a former watchdog into the house, I shouldn't be surprised that it strikes with every noise. ” Another example is dog breeds that are rather independent and reserved towards people. These include chow-chows, Afghan greyhounds or Akitas: they are proud animals that have their own will. It is not very promising to want to “re -move” these animals into cuddly cuddly partners.

The third basic rule in dog education is consequence. If the four -legged friend begs at the table, for example, all family members should consistently ignore him, so do not address, look at or touch him. If someone acts inconsistently and gives the four -legged friend some of the dining table or pays him attention, then he will always beg.

These three basic rules help with education, but cannot guarantee a well -being dog alone. Because there are many mistakes that keepers can make. It is particularly important not to apply violence, neither physical nor psychological. “In addition, you shouldn't ask too much of your dog too quickly. Good and sustainable dog training takes time. If you constantly change the method or take too much training steps, the four -legged friend does not have the opportunity to process what you have learned, and no progress can arise, ”says Becker.

Incidentally, online dog training can also be useful as support for the dog school. Becker: “The owners are usually less distracted and more concentrated in online training than on a dog place in group lessons. In most cases, dog training is more of human training anyway, because many 'problems' in living together with dogs are based on misunderstandings. ” In online dog training, for example, you can work with video analyzes to better explain the dog's bodily body language. Of course, there are also topics that cannot be solved exclusively with online dog training. You should definitely look for professional help too early than too late.
