In the tested brands, our dog nutrition expert Philine Ebert primarily examined the composition of the products, its declaration, the additives used, the feeding recommendations and awarded a final overall rating. The feed was only assessed on the basis of their information on the packaging. This test helps all holders to finally wrote down the descriptions on the pack!

Results at a glance
The test winner, Rossmann Winston “Dry food with poultry & millet”, convinced with a real meat content, detailed declarations and the addition of valuable oils and green -lipped mussel extract for the joints. This feed received five out of five stars. The product of Aldi, Romeo Premium dry food “chicken”, cut off well, but could not quite keep up with the test winner.

In the back places, on the other hand, products such as Edeka “Juicy Happen – Complete Meal with beef & carrots” and Netto Pablo “Juicy Happen complete meal with beef and carrots”, which have grain in the first place of the ingredients and also contained sugar. A diet exclusively with such products can have a long -term negative effects on the health of animals.

What should look out for dog owners
Dogs are not pure carnivore, but dependent on a combination of animal and herbal components. A balanced dog food should ideally consist of around 60 percent animal and 40 percent vegetable ingredients. Declaration also plays a crucial role: According to the Petbook nutrient test, terms such as raw ash or raw fiber are no longer any foreign words.

Conclusion of the test
The Petbook test shows that cheap dry food for dogs can be a good choice if it is composed balanced. Nevertheless, there are products that do not meet the needs of the animals. Dog owners should therefore carefully check the contents to ensure that their four -legged friend is optimally cared for.
