Fire brigade frees dog from fox hole

Wachtberg (ots). On Thursday afternoon, March 12th, a small dog broke loose in a forest near Wachtberg-Villip (North Rhine-Westphalia) off and disappeared. The owners' immediate search on site was unsuccessful, so the animal rescuers from the Rhein-Sieg/Oberberg Animal Search Aid were first informed. They searched the forest with their dogs, but initially couldn't find anything.

Wachtberg fire department frees dog from FuchsbauThe next day, March 13th, animal rescuers used their search dogs again to search for the missing dog. After a while the dogs stopped at the entrance to an old fox hole and a quiet whining could be heard from there. The animal rescuers then alerted the Wachtberg fire department at around 11:30 a.m.

The fire brigade now tried to slowly open the burrow to find possible passages into which the dog could have disappeared. However, the search initially remained fruitless because such a foxhole could have endless ramifications. Therefore, the animal rescuer from tiernotruf.de was alerted, who had the necessary technical equipment to explore the burrow using a camera.

After several attempts and just before it seemed hopeless to find the dog, it suddenly appeared on the camera. It was clear that the dog was still alive and appeared to be okay. The firefighters slowly and carefully opened the affected passage and made their way to the dog. It then became clear that the leash was caught and the dog couldn't free itself.

After the leash was cut, the dog was freed and could happily be handed over to its owners. The dog was dirty, but apparently unharmed. The relief and joy of all the rescue workers involved was clear to see.
