Sometimes all it takes is a simple report to change the lives of animals in distress. This is precisely what happened in the Var (83), where several worrying alerts led the gendarmes of the Motorized Platoon of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume to intervene in the home of an individual. Accompanied by the Var SPAthe territorial brigade and several local partners including the municipal police, they carried out a control operation which would make it possible to come to the aid of several dogs, as reported Var News.
Unworthy living conditions
As soon as they arrived on site, the police were confronted with a particularly difficult and emotional situation. The 3 dogs were kept in living conditions deemed incompatible with animal welfare: locked in a cage, permanently tied up and living in an unsanitary environment, surrounded by their excrement.

Faced with this worrying reality, rapid support has become a priority. In order to guarantee the immediate safety of the hairballs, a solution was fortunately found on site thanks to the voluntary transfer of the 3 dogs for the benefit of the Var SPA.
Now safe, the doggies were able to receive the care, attention and support they needed to regain confidence and envisage a gentler and more serene future.

Legal consequences
Following this intervention, legal proceedings were also initiated against the owner, since several offenses relating to the keeping of animals were noted by the police.
If the legal aspect is now taking its course, this intervention has above all allowed a positive outcome for the furballs concerned: the 3 doggies were indeed able to be saved, and 2 of them have even already joined an adoption family, where they are doing well today.

Beyond this rescue, the authorities wanted to recall the importance of reporting in the fight against animal abuse. Each alert can in fact allow rapid intervention and prevent animals from remaining in suffering situations.
There Var Gendarmerie also stressed that this mission was fully part of its commitments, in close connection with the Var SPA and all the partners mobilized on the ground, whose coordination was essential to the smooth running of the operation. A great mobilization to offer these 3 dogs a well-deserved new chance in life.
