Mannheim: May market visitor leaves her dog in the car

Mannheim (ots). On Monday, April 29th, an attentive May Market visitor informed the colleagues of the special guard at the May Market after he noticed a dog in a parked car at 2:15 p.m. The dog barked the whole time in the car, but already seemed weak, which could also be due to the summer temperatures.

A patrol team then went to the parking lot, quickly located the car and was able to free the visibly stressed and weakened dog from its predicament. The dog owner had lowered the side windows slightly so that the police officers were able to open the vehicle. At the special guard, the little terrier mix first quenched his almost insatiable thirst and got plenty of cuddles. At around 6.30 p.m. the owner went to the Maimarktwache to pick up the dog. She is now being investigated for violating the Animal Welfare Act.

Due to the rising temperatures, the police advise that animals should not be left unattended in the vehicle for a longer period of time.
