Initially, visitors to Lake Altwarmbüchen held the black shopping basket next to the parking lot at the “See Café” for abandoned garbage. It was only a day later that they became aware of the true content by soft meowing: five tiny, only a few days old kittens were located inside.
The small animals had apparently been consciously and regardless. The finders acted immediately and brought the helpless kittens to the Hanover animal shelter. There they now receive medical care and are raised by hand.

Without the quick intervention, the animals would not have survived the summer temperatures – the nurses are convinced of this. In an Instagram contribution, you emphasize that the babies are now provided around the clock. At the same time, they urge to appeal to everyone who can provide information about the origin of the cats.
Every little hint could help to clarify the circumstances of the suspension. Witnesses are asked to report to the animal shelter at 0511 97339819. Anyone who has left the animals back on Lake Altwarmbüchen has not yet been known. Thanks to the committed care in the shelter, the kittens have a real chance of survival.
Exposing pets is an administrative offense in Germany and can be punished with a fine of up to 25,000 euros. If there is damage to the animal, it is even a criminal offense. In such cases, imprisonment of up to three years or fines threatens.
The investigation is underway. The Hanover animal shelter continues to hope for information from the population to clarify the case.
