News Kater kidnapped and exposed despite GPS: Neighborhood dispute ends fatally for Tiger

The owner of the hangover Tiger had tried to be on the safe side: a GPS tracker on the collar should prevent her four-legged friend from doing something. But she hadn't expected her neighbor. He recently had to answer at the Klagenfurt regional court – he was accused of kidnapping tigers and then being suspended in the forest. The hangover did not survive.

As the “Kronen Zeitung” reports, the 60-year-old entrepreneur said that the hangover had disrupted him. “He kept coming to my property, turning into the raised bed and chasing birds on the feeding house.” While he love birds, he was “not so good” with cats. There is also a bad relationship between him and the owner of the animal – there are no conversations.

This tense neighborhood culminated in a serious decision: the man acted on his own. He caught Tiger, removed the GPS neck band, locked it into a marten cage and brought him into a forest “several kilometers away”. This meant death for the cat -struck hangover. Tiger reacted sensitively to extreme temperatures and could not find it back. It was only three weeks later that his owner received the news that a dead hangover had been found and disposed of.

The public outrage about the judgment was not long in coming. Although the man was charged with cruelty to animals, this fact could not be determined without any doubt. Because according to the law, cruelty to animals only exists if an animal is unable to survive in freedom. However, since according to his owner, Tiger regularly grazed through the settlement, this was considered not fulfilled.

Instead, the incident was rated as “permanent deprivation of things” – legally animals are considered things. Because the accused granted this act, the procedure was ended by diversion: he has to pay his neighbor 500 euros in damages and do 50 hours of non -profit work in animal welfare. The aim of this measure is to give the man a new perspective on dealing with animals. A approach between the neighbors, on the other hand, seems to be excluded.
