Not all dog fots fit into the office

Animal welfare organization draws attention to the topic of office funds

Eschborn. They are great companions, promote the team spirit, illuminate the mood and increase the motivation: The fact that the animal protection organization Tasso eV, which operates Europe's largest free pet register, has been convinced for more than 40 years that office radio is generally a really good idea is no secret. That is why Tasso has been declaring an office dance month on June for years and increasingly draws attention to the topic and the associated advantages during this time.

OfficeBut like almost everywhere there is also a “but” when it comes to office funds. It goes without saying that the conditions on site have to fit – no factory, no food processing business, no dangers, but a safe retreat, sufficient retirement matters and much more. However, what should also be looked at is also and the very first line are the dogs themselves. “We always assume that dogs benefit greatly to be with their people, and it is therefore a great solution if they can come to the office,” says Heike Weber, Head of Tierschutz at Tasso. But this conclusion does not apply to all dogs: “Sometimes other obstacles outweigh the advantages of being in human beings”, Weber points out.

Dogs that come to the office often have to do a lot – and that is easily overlooked. The most important thing that office funds have to be can calm down. “And that is exactly what many dogs have difficulty, especially when there is a lot going on,” Weber knows. “We always talk about being able to use and employ dogs properly, but the other side, the resting behavior, that is often neglected.” Undisputed: for many dogs it is just great to be able to go to the office. They quickly find their way there, take their resting place and are simply satisfied. But there are also other characters who need more accompaniment. “You can help you with a step-by-case office training, even outside of working hours, if it is quieter. Good ceiling and rest training is also often an advantage and on the office day yourself support Schleck and chewing articles.” Nevertheless, it may be that a dog is simply not suitable for office fund and does not benefit from the numerous advantages. Then it is the responsibility of the dog owners to find solutions that ensure that both people can fulfill their work and that the dog is well looked after and does not have to stay at home alone regularly.

One thing is important for all office funds, Weber makes it clear: “We humans have to see their needs and take it seriously. We have to recognize if it gets too much and also acknowledge that an office day can be exhausting for our four -legged companions despite the supposed calm and a counter -program that is suitable for the respective dog may be necessary at the end of the day.” If everyone is doing well and all needs are held in balance, dogs are fantastic companions for their work.
