Razor blades discovered in meatballs
Bremen (ots). The Bremen police are currently warning dog owners in the Hastedt district about bait. On Tuesday, December 3, two dogs required treatment at a veterinary clinic after swallowing meatballs prepared with razor blades.
A 62-year-old from Bremen was walking with his dog in a green area on Fliederstrasse in the morning when the animal ate a meatball that had been laid out. Another dog owner later warned via a social network that she had found a prepared meatball in the area. The 62-year-old's dog was then taken to a veterinary clinic in Lower Saxony. The examination showed that there was a razor blade in the animal's stomach. Emergency surgery was required to save the dog's life.
The Bremen police have started an investigation and are asking the public for help. Dog owners are urged to exercise increased caution:
- Keep a close eye on your dog during the walk and prevent him from ingesting food unnoticed.
• If you spot suspicious bait (e.g. prepared with razor blades, needles or poison), Do not touch them and inform the police immediately.
• If your dog has already eaten something suspicious, see a veterinarian as soon as possible.
Anyone who causes significant pain to an animal is violating the Animal Welfare Act and risks a prison sentence of up to three years. The Bremen police's criminal investigation service will receive information about possible perpetrators on 0421 362-3888 or any other police station. (Photo: symbolic image)
