On the morning of Sunday June 28, 2026, the dog boarding staff Bark Yardlocated at Springfield in the state of Missouri (United States), made a surprising and sad discovery within the premises of the establishment. 2 dogs that the employees did not know were, in fact, left to their own devices in the fenced outdoor area and accompanied by a piece of cardboard. On the latter were written their names, Kimber (the smaller of the 2) and Drakoreported KY3.
These quadrupeds were not among the residents, the mystery of their presence was unraveled thanks to images captured by surveillance cameras. The recordings showed, in fact, a couple arriving in front of the daycare in a gray van and having thrown the unfortunate duo of quadrupeds over the fence.
The dogs are safe, a call for witnesses launched
The latter launched a call for witnesses, asking anyone with “ information likely to help identify them » to transmit them to him or to the police.
While waiting to learn more about the circumstances of the abandonment and to identify the perpetrators so that they can answer before the courts, Drako And Kimber are safe and receive care and attention.
Woopets advice: What to do if you discover an abandoned dog?
You never know where or when you might encounter such a situation. If this were to happen, here are the good reflexes to have:
- Keep the dog safe as far as possible and without putting yourself in danger (far from traffic, with an improvised leash if the dog is sociable).
- Quickly contact the town hall, the municipal police, the pound or a local association so that the animal is taken care of within a legal framework.
- If possible, take him to a veterinarian or a shelter to have him scanned for an identification chip.
- Once this identification check has been carried out, possibly use social networks by sharing photos of the dog in the hope that someone will recognize it.
Rapid treatment increases the chances of ensuring the safety of the dog, of finding its owner if it is lost and, in the event of proven abandonment, of facilitating the authorities' procedures.
