If you take your dog on vacation, you have to take some precautions in advance and book accommodation in which animals are welcome. Appropriate care option is required for air travel where pets should not be taken. Cats, ornamental birds and small pets are best always looked after at home.
If you travel by car, you can usually take your dog with you, provided the hotel or apartment allows animal husbandry. Depending on the destination, for example on long -distance travel by aircraft or in countries with high temperatures, dogs also remain better with a suitable supervisor for pets at the German Animal Welfare Association.
Requirements for taking a pet with you
Before an upcoming trip, you should find out more about the entry requirements of the holiday country. A EU pet ID card and a valid toll fee are mandatory for trips abroad with a dog or cat. For a border crossing, the animal must also be marked with a transponder with a microchip. If the animal runs away on vacation and is found, it can be assigned to the owner so quickly. Find a suitable vacation care
If you travel without your animal, you should take care of suitable care in good time, because animal pensions and animal sitters are in demand in the holiday season. “Ideally, before purchasing a pet, you should think about how vacations can be organized with or without animals.
