While shopping in Tunisia, a woman heard a small muffled cry. While looking for where this noise was coming from, she came across a bag lying in the sun, which she opened immediately. What she found there launched a race against time, as the association L'Homme et son Chien tells us.
But nothing stopped her. Inside were 4 puppies whose lives were hanging by a thread.
An infusion for the little female
After their rescue, the volunteers tried to get the little ones (named Marius, Marlow, Maverick, Blueberry) and fanned them. But that couldn't be enough, especially for the only female in the litter. She was dying, was in hypothermia (that is to say with a body temperature far too low), and her body was very close to giving up. Head to the veterinary clinic, urgently, with the hope expressed by the association of bringing them back to life.
On site, the IV was placed on the little dog. His eyes finally opened, slowly. The association then describes the veterinarian leaning over her, giving her little caresses and sweet words, while a thin hose kept her alive. For her rescuers, she had just fallen into another world, that of kindness and love.
The good news? The association announces that the 4 puppies will survive, the worry giving way to the happiness of having rescued them.
Double full for Marius
However, one of the survivors, Mariusis infected with the CAV-1 adenovirus, which is very contagious.
“ His general condition is good, but his right eye has edema and a corneal ulcer causing a bluish color to the eye, explain the Man and his Dog to the writing of Woopets, fortunately, he does not have the full clinical picture of this disease also called Rubarth hepatitis (the liver and kidneys can be affected, but this is not the case for Marius, there are different strains of the virus). »
“ It's a double punishment for this poor little one, who is 3 months old today, he is under treatment and totally isolated from his brothers and sister. », she adds.
Puppies can be adopted In France
Puppies should be kept Tunisia for 5 to 6 months, health protocol requires, before being able to take flight towards the France. Until then, they will be treated, identified, vaccinated and sterilized, all steps which have a high cost.
To finance veterinary care, specialized food and boarding for the 4 survivors, The Man and his Dog is calling for donations. “ Nothing is worth a life », she recalls by way of conclusion.
