News dog is grilled in the middle of the city?! PETA protest causes a sensation

With their provocation, the activists appeal to the public to think about the so -called speciesism – the discrimination against living beings solely because of their way of age. In Berlin, they want to draw attention to human ethical responsibility towards animals.

PETA protests in Charlottenburg: dogs on the grill

On Saturday afternoon, several PETA activists gathered in Wilmersdorfer Straße in Charlottenburg, who confronted passers-by with posters such as “Animals are not food”. There was a fold of dog on a grill that was symbolically prepared. The aim was to draw people aware of the often overlooked discrimination against animals.

Jennifer Veit, long -time activist of the organization, explains: “With our campaign, we appeal to people to question speciesist thinking and simply put vegetables or vegan meat alternatives on the grill instead of meat.” Speciesism is a view that puts people about other species and gives him the right to exploit animals.

Different reactions of passers -by

The reactions to the protest was very different. A passer -by who feeds vegan was actively looking for a conversation with the activists. She wanted to exchange experiences and share her motivation.

Other passers -by showed less understanding. A seller of the butcher's shop was upset and emphasized that nutrition was a personal decision. Jennifer Veit reports that the activists were able to have constructive conversations and experienced aggressive shouting.

What is speciesism?

  • Discrimination of living beings solely because of its kind
  • Human superiority towards animals is accepted
  • Leads to exploitation, torture and killing of animals

Provocation meets skepticism: two young men in conversation

Another scene illustrates the difficulty of convincing passers -by: two young men specifically provoked the activists. One showed a video of a slaughter that he had carried out himself and explained: “I respect animals, but I like to eat them.”

They even offered the activists to invite them to eat meat into the opposite butcher. The campaign shows how controversial and emotionally such protests can be recorded and illustrates the span of public opinions on animal rights and vegan diet.

The protest in Berlin makes it clear that animal rights and nutrition remain controversial issues. Through provocative but symbolic actions, Peta wants to attract attention and persuade people to think about their behavior towards animals. Discussions arise on the street, but the core message remains: animals deserve respect – regardless of their relationship.
