Boppard. Easter should also be a wonderful time for our dogs. How Easter can be made special for your four-legged friend, plus some ideas and tips:
- Easter egg hunt for dogs: Instead of chocolate (which is dangerous for dogs), hide small treats or toys in safe areas of the garden or house. The dog will search enthusiastically because sniffing games promote mental activity and are fun.
- Homemade Easter treats: Bake your own special dog biscuits in the shape of Easter eggs, bunnies or flowers. Use dog-safe ingredients like oat flour, peanut butter and carrots. Boiled eggs (in moderation) are also a great surprise.
- Easter photo shoot: Of course, you can dress up the dog with a cute Easter outfit, such as a bunny ear headband or a colorful scarf, and take funny photos (but don't exaggerate, because whether it's really that funny for the dog remains to be seen).
- Fun: Use the Easter holidays for extensive play sessions such as ball throwing, Frisbee or an agility course.
- Special walk: Take your dog for an extra long spring walk in a blooming park or beautiful landscape to enjoy the holidays together.
- Easter toys: a new Easter-themed toy, like a stuffed bunny or a squeaky Easter egg for the dog.
What to avoid
Many delicacies are available for us humans during the Easter holidays. However, what is good for us can be toxic for dogs. Even the beautifully decorated apartment is not entirely safe for the four-legged friend.
- Poisonous foods: Chocolate, onions, fatty foods and alcohol are dangerous for dogs and can lead to poisoning.
- Leftover food: The dog should not be given leftover food as it is often seasoned or intolerable to the dog, which can lead to stomach and intestinal problems.
- Decorations: Easter grass and small decorative materials can be swallowed by your four-legged friend and cause dangerous blockages.
