Dog mistreated at Essen main station

Federal police arrest aggressive man and save dog

Eat (ots). On the evening of April 8th, federal police forces observed a man violently attacking his dog via the video surveillance system at Essen Central Station. During the subsequent check, the 49-year-old offered considerable resistance and committed numerous other crimes.

At around 7:45 p.m., officers noticed the man's actions on platform 1/2. The German, who lives in Hamburg, first threw his suitcase down the stairs and let his dog run through the train station without a leash. He then picked up the animal by its front legs, let it fall in a controlled manner and punched it in the side. He also violently tore the mouth of the visibly intimidated animal open.

A patrol that was immediately dispatched found the man on the platform. He immediately reacted very aggressively. During the identification process, the aggressor lost a sealed bag containing a small amount of narcotics when he opened his wallet (probably amphetamine) and tried in vain to push him away with kicks. During the subsequent search, the uniformed officers also discovered a fist knife, which the man had ready to hand in a holster on his belt.

Dog at Essen Central StationBoth during the search and when he was subsequently taken to the office, the 49-year-old offered massive resistance, braced himself against the officers and tore his arms away. Due to the endangered animal welfare, the dog was seized in consultation with the city of Essen and handed over to the care of an animal shelter.

After completing the first measures and leaving the station, the 49-year-old insulted the officers, kicked the guard door and emptied the garbage he had brought with him directly in front of the entrance area. He did not comply with another expulsion, whereupon he was led out of the station under threat of coercion. There he hit a federal police vehicle.

The man was ordered to be taken into custody to prevent further crimes. After a medical examination in a hospital, the Hamburg man's fitness for custody was confirmed, after which he was taken to central police custody. Even during his hospital stay, he continually threatened the forces deployed.

The federal police initiated investigations into violations of the Animal Welfare Act, the Weapons Act and the Narcotics Act, as well as resistance to law enforcement officers, insults and threats. In addition, administrative offense proceedings were initiated due to the contamination of the railway facilities.
